| Roofconsult Review – MCRMA
Technical Conference 2026 The MCRMA Technical Conference once again proved
to be one of the most valuable events in the Roofing and Cladding calendar,
bringing together Industry Experts, Manufacturers, Contractors, Consultants
and Clients to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing our sector. |
| As always, the event
provided a wealth of technical knowledge, insightful discussion and an
excellent opportunity to engage with colleagues from across the industry. |
| This year’s conference was
heavily focused on the themes of risk management, competence, compliance and
the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape. Several presentations highlighted
the increasing responsibility being placed on all parties involved in the
design, specification and delivery of roofing and façade systems. The
importance of collaboration, clear communication and maintaining a robust
“golden thread” of information throughout a project’s lifecycle was a
consistent message throughout the day. |
| Fire safety remains at the
forefront of industry discussions, and several sessions explored structural
fire design, fire resistance testing and the transition towards European
testing standards. The presentations reinforced the need for evidence-based
design and a greater understanding of how systems perform in real-world fire
scenarios, rather than relying solely on historic assumptions or isolated
test data. |
| A particularly interesting
session examined the challenges surrounding technical information management
and BIM. Real project examples demonstrated how misunderstandings,
assumptions and poor communication of technical requirements can lead to
unnecessary costs, delays and risk. The message was clear: providing
accurate, practical and understandable technical information is essential if
we are to improve project outcomes. |
| The update on European
Standards and Construction Products Regulation developments highlighted the
significant changes that will affect the industry over the coming years.
From revisions to Eurocodes and product standards through to new
requirements for installation and system certification, it is clear that
continued industry engagement and technical competence will be critical as
these changes are implemented. |
| One of the most valuable
aspects of the conference was the opportunity to hear directly from those
involved in developing standards, guidance documents and regulatory
frameworks. Their insights provided a useful understanding of the direction
of travel for the industry and the challenges that lie ahead. |
| Overall, the conference
reinforced the importance of staying informed, maintaining technical
excellence and continuing to develop industry knowledge. Events such as
these play a vital role in helping the roofing and cladding sector adapt to
changing requirements while continuing to deliver safe, compliant and
high-quality buildings. |
| Roofconsult would like to
thank the MCRMA, all sponsors, speakers and organisers for delivering
another highly informative and well-run event. We look forward to applying
the knowledge gained and continuing to support our clients with the latest
industry best practice and technical developments. |
