| Over
2,000 square metres of Steadmans AS24/1000 single skin roof
and wall panels in Wedgewood Blue were specified and
installed by West Wales Airport for the refurbishment of an
aircraft hangar to be used by the Ministry of Defence (MoD)
at West Wales Airport, near Aberporth. |
 |
|
Owned by The Mann Organisation, West Wales Airport has
undergone a major redevelopment programme to establish a
centre of excellence for the development of unmanned aerial
vehicles (UAVs). |
|
The 1,600 square metre aircraft
hangar will be used by the MoD from November 2009 for
testing and evaluation of the Watchkeeper UAV programme for
the British Army. |
|
Steadmans AS single skin roof
and wall panels are rolled in five different profiles in a
choice of 0.5mm and 0.7mm thickness. Manufactured in a wide
range of colours and finishes the panels have a service life
of up to 40 years and a comprehensive range of ancillary
components including flashings fixings, sealants, guttering,
and rooflights is also available. |
|
Mike Taylor, engineering manager
at The Mann Organisation, said: “Due to budgetary
constraints we decided to carry out the work on the aircraft
hangar using direct labour rather than going through a
contractor. The original roof panels had rusted through in
some areas so the whole roof was replaced along with the
external walls. |
|
“Steadmans AS roofing and
cladding products were ideal, they were competitively priced
and had an excellent choice of colours on offer. Throughout
our dealings with Steadmans the service was excellent and
its sales team provided invaluable practical and helpful
technical advice.” |
