Ayrshire-based property developer ATD Developments, has
specified Sandtoft's interlocking BritLock slate for its
Fenwick Glade development, a prestigious scheme of just nine
bespoke properties in the village of Fenwick, Ayrshire.
|
 |
| Made
from 80 per cent natural slate, the BritLock has the same
appearance as natural slate and meets the requirements of
the local planning authority, who specified a natural roof
covering for the properties, which are situated in a
conservation area. |
|
Donna Higgins, director, ATD
Developments, said: "Being in a conservation area, it was
important that we used a natural roof material which
reflected the local surroundings. We took a number of
options to the local planners and they specified the
BritLock slate. |
|
"We had originally considered
using natural quarried slate but the BritLock enabled us to
achieve an authentic slate appearance with a better finish
at a significantly reduced cost. The interlocking design of
the BritLock meant that we also saved both time and money on
installation. |
|
"The overall finish of the roofs
is fantastic and the properties have been in high demand.
This development has proved very popular with buyers - all
of the properties that we have released to date have sold
within weeks and one sold in just six days." |
|
Nick Oldridge, sales and
marketing director at Sandtoft added: "The BritLock is the
ideal solution for developers looking for a cost-effective,
green roof slate. Manufactured from recycled UK slate in our
carbon neutral plant, using 100 per cent green electricity,
the BritLock's interlocking lightweight design saves energy
in production, transportation and installation and as a
result is one of the most sustainable roofing solutions
currently available in the UK." |
