Hampshire and the surrounding South coast regions of the UK have some of the highest rates of new housing developments in the country, with more than six housing starts per one thousand dwellings – much higher than the national average*. A Thing of Bute-Y
David Wilson Homes, part of Barratt Developments, is the developer behind Locksbridge Park in Andover. The project is on course to deliver a total of 175 brand new 2, 3 and 4 bedroomed houses to the desirable village of Picket Piece.
Locksbridge Park development is now in Phase Two, with many of the houses from Phase One already sold or occupied. More of the properties are expected to be completed and available for residents to move in later this year.
The new homes have been designed to fit in with the aesthetics of similar housing in the area. An important factor to consider was the roofing, which had to have a look and feel that was close to the surrounding properties.
Russell Roof Tiles was selected to supply Bute roof tiles in cottage red, anthracite and burnt orange colours, to reflect the clay and slate roofs of other housing in the village.
Russell Roof Tiles is one of the UK’s leading roof tile manufacturers with three sites in the UK, two in Burton and one in Lochmaben.
Bute tiles form part of Russell’s Natural Range of products – an expanding selection of thinner leading edge interlocking concrete tiles that have the appearance of natural slate, clay and stone.
David Wilson Homes was granted planning permission for the scheme in 2014, and building work is expected to continue up until 2018. It is one of several projects that David Wilson Homes is working on or has completed in the Hampshire region, providing impressive family housing, built to the highest design specifications, for house-hunters wanting to move to the sought-after village.
Russell Roof Tiles supplies roof tiles for private and social housing, as well as developments which are designed to provide extra care facilities to residents. The latest family homes in Andover will provide a much needed boost to the number of new homes in the area, as the national demand for housing continues to be at an all-time high.
