Russell Roof Tiles, has donated an impressive £4k to another life-saving charity, as part of its continued dedication to supporting the local community. Blood Bikes Receives Charitable Boost From Russells
Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes (DGBB) was delighted to receive the donation this month, which will go some way in helping the volunteer-led charity carry out vital life-saving work in the community, by providing medical supplies to NHS foundations.
Having supported the charity since 2015, staff at the leading roof tile manufacturer, which employs 160 people at its two sites in Burton and a further site in Lochmaben, have been fundraising throughout the year to raise as much money as possible for its Community Fund. The team’s latest venture included a sponsored weight loss challenge which saw £800 raised.
The Community Fund was created by Russell Roof Tiles at the start of 2018 and will continue in 2019. It is a communal pot whereby a number of local charities and groups receive a share of money to support the great work they are doing in the local community. Other charities to benefit from Russell Roof Tiles’ fundraising in 2018 included voluntary search and rescue lifeboat service, Nith Inshore Rescue and Shropshire.Staffordshire.Cheshire Blood Bikes.
Bruce Laidlaw, Production Director at Russell Roof Tiles said: “At Russell Roof Tiles, we are dedicated to supporting fantastic charities that go above and beyond to help people in our community.
“Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes is an important part of its community, transporting vital blood products, blood samples, medication and other life-critical supplies to local hospitals via motorbike, where every minute counts in helping seriously ill and injured patients. The volunteers rely solely on donations and we are pleased that our donation will help support these efforts.”
Dave Hook from Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes comments: “The support we receive from Russell Roof Tiles is absolutely incredible and the staff who take part in the fundraising play a major part in helping us do what we do. The funding in the past has bought us replacement motorcycles and has helped us get to where we are today.
“From the early days, when we were averaging 30 to 40 runs a month, to where we are now - completing up to 100 runs and covering 12 to 13000 miles every month - it makes such a difference to the patients of the NHS. Every penny raised goes into the operational running. There are no paid staff at all within Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes as all time is given freely by the volunteers.
“A huge thank you to the staff and customers of Russell Roof Tiles for making this amazing donation to help keep the wheels turning.”
Russell Roof Tiles has always been dedicated to supporting local causes, raising an impressive £78,000 for a variety of organisations since 2015.
