Birmingham City Council is continuing to push ahead with its award-winning housebuilding programme through the Council’s housebuilding arm, Birmingham Municipal Housing Trust (BMHT). Birmingham Lays Foundations for Social Housing Targets
With the Council needing to ensure the development of at least 89,000 new homes by 2031, one project has already seen 60 new homes created in North Birmingham.
These much-needed family homes in Dovedale Road, Perry Common, were built by partnership housing developer Lovell and form part of the area’s ongoing regeneration.
Leading roof tile manufacturer, Russell Roof Tiles was asked to provide 20,000 Lothian tiles in cottage red for the project, due to the tiles’ appealing appearance and the security and durability of the interlocking concrete design.
The tiles were also chosen for having the traditional appearance of clay with the economy of concrete. Concrete tiles are a long life, durable product which requires minimal maintenance once installed, creating sustainable houses.
Michael Whitehead, Regional Director at Russell Roof Tiles, commented; “Russells has worked closely with Lovell for many years so we were delighted to have the opportunity to work with them again on such an important and significant project in Birmingham.
“At Russell Roof Tiles, we make every effort possible to provide sustainable, quality products for many social housing projects, ensuring we work to suit the requirements and needs of the client every step of the way.”
Russell Roof Tiles is a leading independent roof tile manufacturer; providing products for leading UK house builders and high profile social housing and commercial projects, where sustainability and eco-credentials are of the utmost priority.
