Visitors to stand 2245 at this year’s Ecobuild, will witness
the ‘greatest show on planet earth.’ Knauf Insulation’s
holistic approach to environmentally sound practices and
products will be demonstrated, from manufacture through to
product installation. Visitors will also be able to find out
more on Knauf Insulation’s revolutionary new mineral wool
products that have less embodied energy and superior
environmental sustainability, due to patented ECOSETM

Knauf Insulation mineral wool
products with ECOSETM Technology benefit from a
natural, formaldehyde-free binder made from rapidly
renewable organic materials instead of petroleum-based
chemicals. The technology enhances the product’s
environmental credentials without affecting the thermal,
acoustic or fire performance. |

The ECOSETM
Technology binder is up to 70 per cent less energy intensive
than traditional oil based binders. With Knauf Insulation
mineral wool products containing high recycled and renewable
content, this contributes to an already superior performance
when it comes to embodied energy. Insulation products made
with ECOSETM Technology contain no dye and
artificial colours – the colour is completely natural. |

Knauf Insulation will also be
featuring a practical approach to the R-value that can be
achieved for each type of insulation. The thermal resistance
(R-value) is the most important material characteristic that
should be defined when specifying insulation as it considers
both the thermal conductivity and thickness of an insulation
product and so provides a useful means of comparing the
performance of different products. |

To aid visitors in learning more
about sustainability and how to achieve Level 6, a zero
carbon home will be featured. This will help people to
understand how insulation and practical solutions can
achieve maximum points available within the Code for
Sustainable Homes. |
