Roofing contractor Hathaway has completed its latest installation on Costco Wholesale warehouses of rooflights from Brett Martin Daylight Systems. Costco Sees Brett Martin Through Opal Tinted Rooflights
Originally commissioned by the global discount retail club to roof its new warehouses, Hathaway has recently completed the replacement of existing PVC rooflights with polycarbonate rooflights at Costco in Watford.
Some 164 of Brett Martin’s Mardome Trade rooflights, which are classified non-fragile to ACR[M]001:2005 and prEN1873, were installed by a Hathaway team of three in just four days on a nine-metre-high, 13,000m² roof of composite panels that Hathaway originally installed.
Costco were looking to maintain an even spread of natural light and for the building to remain operational throughout so this involved Hathaway working to particular Health and Safety requirements.
Hathaway have handled most of Costco’s roof work in the UK for 15 years and in that time worked on 19 warehouses, all but two of which have been new-build.
The Mardome Trade rooflights used at Watford were 2,140 x 1,316mm non-vented with an opal tinted, polycarbonate curved dome to provide diffused light. They were triple-skinned to give superior thermal performance and comply with the latest Part L Building Regulations.
Hathaway’s purchasing manager Phil Gamble said: “Brett Martin supplied the domed rooflights on the Costco project as the product is very well manufactured to meet current Building Regulations and long-term non-fragility is important.”
